Coming this week:

This week is Pathfinder Sabbath. Our Pathfinder/Adventurer Club members will be helping out this Sabbath, taking part in both worship services. You won't be able to miss them…they'll be the ones dressed in uniform! Our speaker for the day will be Elder Hubert Cisneros.

STIMULUS PACKAGE FOR SENIORS: A gentle stretching and bending class is available for our Senior Ladies. Beginning this Tuesday, April 7, you are invited to meet in the Fellowship Hall at 7:00pm for FORTY minutes of gentle bending and stretching. This stimulus package is geared to improve your overall well being.  We begin promptly at 7:00pm and end at 7:40pm and will run for four consecutive Tuesdays in April. Wear comfortable clothes and bring a towel for the floor. If floor exercise is not physically feasible, you can do these same exercises from a chair.  Questions?  Call Mary Fran at 885-3192.

Annual Town Hall Meetings: The Ohio Conference will hold its annual series of six area Town Hall Meetings in April. The meeting in our area will be on Tuesday, April 21 from 7:00-8:30 at the Columbus Eastwood church. All church members are invited to attend. Agenda will include presentations on current issues, trends and opportunities.

 

SSLC is currently looking for volunteers to help with spring cleanup and general office and classroom help. If you have a few extra hours a week and are looking for the opportunity to become a part of a Christian based childcare center, please visit us at our website, www.worthingtonsslc.org and fill out an application.

 

Pathfinders are looking for a glass display case. If you or anyone you know has one that they would be willing to donate, please contact Pathfinder leader Kevin Sciulli at (614) 841-9085 or the church office at (614) 885-7812.

 

We continue to receive news of members losing their jobs. Many of those we sit next to in the pew are facing critical, financial situations. WE WANT TO HELP! If you know of any job opportunities, could you please contact the church office at 614-885-7812. Also, if you are in a position where you are able, we need help funding our benevolent fund.

 

Spring is here which means summer is on the way. We have a young man offering his lawn cutting service. If you need help with this chore for the summer or if you just need him while you're away on vacation, Andrew Johns' is available. Call him at 614 579-0963.

MVA Cascabel Handbell Choir is excited to be performing for you at the WSDA Church. You are invited to this sacred vespers concert this Sabbath at 5:00pm in the sanctuary. Several families in our congregation have lost loved ones and need to be remembered in your prayers. Beverly & Jay Polson are grieving the loss of Beverly's mother, Mary Lou Sipe. Mrs. Sipe was a life long Adventist that graduated from MVA in 1947. Please send you condolences to the Polson family, 4125 Bartle Dr. Cols., 43207.

 

As most of you already know, Myrna Duncan passed away last Tuesday. Here are the details of her services: Calling hours are Monday, March 23 from 2-4:00 and 6-8:00 at Schoedinger Funeral Home, 6699 N. High St. Worthington 43085. The funeral will be held at the Worthington Seventh-day Adventist Church on Tuesday, March 24 at 11:00a.m.

Pathfinders & Adventurers progress report.  Our first meeting opened with Betsy Blocher leading in prayer and worship, then we did some size selecting for new uniforms, and then the real fun began when we started working on…you guessed it…the KNOT honor! Who knew kids could have so much fun tying (and untying) knots!  This past Sabbath we had the privilege of hosting the Conference Level Bible Bowl.  The Worthington Wildcats were able to help with and participate in this event. We also provided a yummy spaghetti dinner for the 90 + Pathfinders!  Then on Sunday, the Adventurers and Pathfinders spent the day at Malabar Farms enjoying the Maple Sugar Festival. While enjoying the out of doors, they also earned their first honor, the Maple Sugar Honor!! The next meeting is Sunday, March 15 at 10:00am in the fellowship hall.  As a reminder registration for both clubs will remain open until March 31st and then will be closed until mid September 2009.

Coming this week:

This is Potluck Sabbath! We encourage our church family to join in fellowship following the 2nd service. This is a wonderful way to get to know our growing family. Please provide an entrée and a dessert or salad. Just drop it off in the kitchen before church and our hostesses will have it heated and set out for the luncheon. For those of you that Minnie Constantine & Sue and Dave Roberts, they will be at the potluck and look forward to visiting with you.

Congratulations to Josh & Karly Abbott who welcomed daughter Lyla Ranae on Sunday. Lyla weighed in at 6lbs. 12oz. Mom & baby are doing great and Dad is slowing recovering!!

FYI – Due to these difficult financial times, the Ohio Conference has been forced to cancel Campmeeting 2009. This is unfortunately a common occurrence with many of the conferences across the country.

 

Beginning this coming Monday, March 9…Laugh Your Way to A Better Marriage, marriage seminar. This video seminar, presented by Mark Gungor is honest, hard-hitting and hilarious. The series runs from March 9 through April 20, meeting each Monday night from 7:00-8:30. FREE BABYSITTING IS AVAILABLE!

A Worthington Wildcats Pathfinder Fundraiser. Are you or someone you know preparing for an upcoming wedding, graduation, birth or other important event? Most likely you will want to announce this momentous occasion and we have someone who can help! One of our church members deals in Fine Paper Invitations by Nu-Art out of Chicago. This is the same company that supplies Hallmark and other fine stationary stores with their invitations. This member has offered to donate 100% of the profits from the sale of these invitations to our Pathfinder Club!

 

What we need from YOU is to recommend this service to your friends and family.

 

Our member is prepared to present an entire album of invitation samples to those interested. They can browse through the album at their leisure in their own home.  Should they decide to order, they will be given assistance with any and all questions. Mike & Laura Hanley worked with this member and used these invitations for their wedding announcements and loved them! So did Jeff & Cheri Rettstatt, and others. MVA Mission Trip Fundraiser.  Mount Vernon Academy's Hand Bell Choir, CASCABEL is excited to be planning a Mission Trip to Jamaica April 8-12. They are hoping that you can help them raise much needed funds by attending their concert/spaghetti dinner fundraiser, Saturday, March 21, at the Worthington SDA Church. A sacred concert will begin at 5:00p.m. in the sanctuary followed by a spaghetti dinner. The price for this evening of fellowship is so very reasonable that the whole family can attend! Good News! Mike Figliola is now at home and would like to extend his deepest gratitude for all of the cards and visits during his hospital stay and recovery. He asks that his church family continue to pray for his ongoing health concerns.

 

Updated info on the memorial service for Doug Harsany's father. A service is being planned for Saturday, March 14 to be held at the Mt. Vernon City Church at 3:00pm. Contributions can be made to Amazing Facts in honor of Mr. Harsany. Doug, Cindy and family are grateful for the love and support they've received from their church family. The cards, calls and prayers have meant so much during this difficult time.
