In-Touch Newsletter of the Worthington

Coming this week:

Sabbath, May 2 speaker: Pastor Loren Seibold. Sermon Title: Sorting Us Out.

Happy Birthday to everyone born in the month of May! Our prayer is that God bless you and those you love in the year to come.

This Sabbath's vespers service is the movie "Fireproof." This film has a beautiful, spiritual message that emphasizes ways to strengthen your marriage. The movie begins at 7:30p.m. and is rated PG. To see a clip from the movie, visit this link: http://movies.yahoo.com/movie/1810036605/info.

Strategic Planning Committee Survey. Our SPC has put together a questionnaire and they are hoping that every member/attender of our congregation will complete one. I have pasted the survey into this newsletter at the very bottom. You can run a copy of the survey from this newsletter or you can get a copy at church. It is so important that EVERYONE take the time to complete a survey. Once your survey is complete, we ask that you drop it into the survey box in the church narthex, hand it to one of the SPC members or mail it to the church office. These surveys are 100% confidential.

We are currently running on a deficit of $33,826.70 and it's only April! We thought you deserved to know what we're spending our money on. During the first quarter of 2009 we incurred a total of $120,389 in expenses and these are some of the big hitters.

Postage/office supplies - $1943

Phone - $2846

Liability insurance - $1893 (building insurance is $11,000 and paid in June)

General maintenance - $6211

Sabbath School Papers - $2324

AHHHHHHH! Thank you but please stop! The response to SSLC's request for plastic grocery bags was so tremendous, that they are now swimming in bags! As much as we hate to say it, we must…please stop being so helpful! (at least until the next time we ask for your help).

Our Choir is gearing up for their final performance of the season at a vespers program on Saturday, May 17 at 6:00pm in the sanctuary.

Coming this week:

The current financial problems besetting many families have now spilled over and are affecting the church. We are currently running at a $33,826.72 deficit. Each week our debt continues to grow despite the hard work and financial manipulation provided by the finance committee. If you find that you can give a little extra to our local church budget, it would make a huge difference to our various ministries.

Some of you may have noticed that I tried to send out a McGhee Family Easter letter this week but was unsuccessful, so…I have included it here in our In-Touch Newsletter. Sorry for the confusion.

Hello all ye saints of Worthington SDA.  Just a note of LOVE and Remembrance that JESUS is alive and the stone's been rolled away.  My family and I HOPE for each one of you the fondest and most wonderful EASTER ever as we keep living the life of a CHRISTIAN believer.

Thanks for being such warm, accepting, and willing folks to help whenever YOU can.  There is much work to do in the field of caring and nurturing.  Please let us work together to make each life richer and more meaningful.  Sometimes we can get diverted in our paths but the JESUS we serve will continue to inspire us through many avenues and most of all lead us to those that need our help the MOST.

Again JESUS is ALIVE and we THANK GOD for HIS work on OUR behalf through JESUS CHRIST HIS SON.

ALTOGETHER LOVELY

HOPEFUL Bob and crew
