HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!!

This week:

Sabbath, June 19, 2010 – Elder Raj Attiken: When Good Answers Aren't Good Enough

What Makes A Dad
God took the strength of a mountain,
The majesty of a tree,
The warmth of a summer sun,
The calm of a quiet sea,

The generous soul of nature,
The comforting arm of night,
The wisdom of the ages,
The power of the eagle's flight,

The joy of a morning in spring,
The faith of a mustard seed,
The patience of eternity,
The depth of a family need,

Then God combined these qualities,
When there was nothing more to add,
He knew His masterpiece was complete,
And so, He called it ... Dad

We'll be doing some weeding and spreading mulch. Please bring your garden tools if you have them. If it's raining we'll try again the next week.

** Breaking News **

Most of you are probably aware that last Sabbath was Loren's last as our senior pastor. After serving our congregation for 12 years he has accepted a new challenge offered him by the Ohio conference. He will be working on a variety of projects that the conference has wanted to tackle for years but were unable to.

What does this mean for us?

For the immediate future, it means that Pastor Bob will be partnering with Raj Attiken and Marwood Hallett to conduct the daily business of the church, i.e. visiting our sick, planning our worship services, responding to our member's needs, etc. You can expect to hear many interesting and inspirational guest speakers. You can be assured that the church office will be staffed to receive your calls and e-mails. And we promise that our leaders remain available to assist with any need that may arise. We encourage you to talk to one of our elders or church board members if you feel confused or unsure of what is happening. This has all happened quickly and there are bound to be questions and our leaders would be more than happy to talk to you.

An item for your calendar.

Plans are underway for an appreciation celebration for Loren & Carmen. Since they aren't moving away, we didn't feel the need to rush and throw something together last week, so we're taking our time and planning a nice event. The details are under construction but this Sabbath we will begin collecting donations towards an appreciation gift. Please place you donation in a tithe envelope marked "gift."

Coming in the weeks ahead:

YOU can save a life! Come to our 1st CPR session, Sunday, June 13 at 10:00a.m. Learn to use basic CPR skills and also how to use AED (automatic external defibrillator) which we will have available for emergencies in our church and school. Space is limited to 12 per session and the cost is $5.

You'll have yet another opportunity to save lives at the ARC Blood Drive, Sabbath July 3. Look for the blood-mobile out in the parking lot!
