Sabbath, January 9, 2009Mark Feldbush – No More Fractions

This Sabbath is our annual blessing of our Church volunteers who donate their time and talent supporting our various ministries. We will also be voting on the members of the church board.

Join us this Sabbath for our All-Church Fellowship Luncheon. Our luncheon will serve as a farewell dinner to the Feldbush family as they leave us for MD. Mark has accepted a job as a hospital chaplain at Washington Adventist Hospital in Takoma Park. He starts January 11. So please plan to join Mark, Becky, Tegwen and Beatrice as we bid them a fond farewell. Please bring an entrée and a dessert or salad to share.

Coming in the weeks ahead:

Kitchen clean-up. We have a lot of unmarked items in the refrigerator that have been there for a long time. Your church secretary (me) will be spending a few hours cleaning out the fridge in a couple of weeks. If you have something in there that you want to claim, please label it or remove it. Everything else will be disposed of or donated.

Adventist Basics Class – If you are interested in learning more about the doctrine of the Seventh-day Adventist faith, please join Pastor Seibold on Saturday, January 16th at 2:30 in the afternoon in the garden room. This class lasts about 3 hours.

The U.S. Census Bureau has been using our facility as a testing site for some upcoming job openings. They continue to look for qualified workers. If you would be interested in applying, please call 614-684-0140 or go to 2010censusjobs.gov.

One of our members, Lori Wycoff, has been working on a project for several years that I think you may find interesting. She had the idea of developing a calendar featuring women who are cancer survivors, photographed at various stages of treatment, by a professional photographer and selling these calendars as a way to fundraise for cancer patients. Her work has caught the attention of several newspapers and I have included a link to an article written recently by a newspaper in Springfield Ohio. http://www.springfieldnewssun.com/news/springfield-news/stafford-putting-a-brave-face-on-fight-against-cancer-472683.html

I'm also including the website where you can learn more about Lori's efforts and see the 2010 calendar (featuring Tracy Rice).  It's a really great idea and the calendar is BEAUTIFUL!!  Check it out!  www.fightingfaces.com.

The Church office is in the process of compiling a list of your family members and/or friends who are serving in the military. We would like to have a current list including addresses so that those who are interested could correspond and support them.  If you know of anyone in the military and would like to share their information, please contact the church office.

There is a new Vegetarian/Vegan kids group forming in the Columbus Area. Its purpose is to allow parents and guardians a way to organize Vegetarian friendly events for their kids without the usual worries of what's going to be served or that the activities my cause uneasiness for those trying to lead a Vegetarian life style. This group is not centered on any religious denomination. There are people from many different religious view points as members of the group. The focus is solely the shared Vegetarian/Vegan life style.  Anyone who is interested can review the yahoo group web page at: http://groups.yahoo.com/group/ColumbusVegKids/. If you have more questions, or would like to join the group, you may contact Mark Whitt at 614-898-0043 or MarkWhitt13@yahoo.com.
